This exhibition is a playful analysis of how we all understand the same things differently. Using typography, riddles, letter changes, ambiguity in the same word and image, the artist invites to test attention, creativity.
It is assumed that the meaning that the viewer will see first, will say something about the viewer himself. Most of the works offer a positive and negative approach.
The principle of collage, abstractions allow the artist to release her`s and the viewer`s imagination. Combining the techniques of object prints, photomontage and monotype, M. Liutkutė-Grigaitienė creates minimalist compositions that will stop you for longer than a moment.
Dutch historian and philosopher Johan Huizinga hypothesized that the primary, most important element of the flourishing of human culture is play. The playful, creative, associative element of thinking reigns in this exposition.
The two works will “reveal all the cards”. These are prints of abstract stains, which invite visitors to take the “filters” of organic glass and give the work the identity of a specific object and plot. This is the creative principle of the artist – by twisting the sheet of an abstract spot, changing its positions and “dressing” the form in the mind with different continuations, abstractions turn into suggestive associations and concretities.
“It emphasizes what works of art are ambiguous and each painting creates a distinctive harmony, a unique combination with each viewer. Man himself is a unique creator and creates every detail uniquely”, – says the artist.
The mirror will remind you – “you are unique, you have your point of view, but do not forget that another person is also unique and the one whose view you do not agree with”. Visitors will be able to decipher the general concept of the exhibition and share it on social platforms. It’s like an invitation to “read” a picture.
The distinguishing feature of M. Liutkutė-Grigaitienė is the blue color that unites all her work. This color came to the artist`s work in search of a life-giving accent to monochrome graphics. The graphic artist then discovered the cyanotype.
Graphic artist M. Liutkutė-Grigaitienė felt the effect of blue on a person, first of all on herself. By adding blue to her works, she seeks to spread solid peace.
Although the professional graphic artist has been engaged in creative activities for several decades, this is her second solo exhibition. In the first exhibition “Quarantine”, which took place last autumn, the artist, not lacking empathy for a tense situation, offered to “love the current moment, to live with the situation”.
